What If?

What happens if they get their way?

Let us consider what will happen if CCFOG gets a toe hold in local politics. Let’s say they successfully unseat Richard Lee. They will demand and probably get someone to replace him who may appear moderate on the surface, but will pupate into a Commissioner they desire. They will then pursue removing Ann Samuelson, which they (CCFOG Members) have already started trying to remove her from the School Board in Jewell, thus tarnishing her accomplishments. Not that any accusations of any wrong doing have any basis in reality. It is a propaganda war where the first shot is often the one that is noticed most.

Riding this wave, momentum builds for Burr Allegaert, a major contributor to measure 4-123 and a member of CCFOG, who is running against Patricia Roberts in District 2. Candidate Dirk Rohne, known for a Josh supporter gets a bump in Knappa. After they take down Samuelson the finally go after Hazen.

This is the way it is mapped out, but they will accomplish what they want with a simple three to five majority on the Board. What happens next is that the stipend will be restored to Josh. Though his workload has dropped he will get more staff to not handle what they already don’t have. It will be a good day for the County Police as well.

Next, Scott Derickson will made very uncomfortable and he will probably be forced to seek employment else where. Though the BOCC is not an agency that should regulate or impede business they will throw up road blocks to stop all aspects of the LNG industry, which will land them in major trouble with the federal government and will be brought to court by the LNG industry, ending up wasting hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal battles that they can not possibly win.

The planning department can continue making up their own policies on a whim and serve or not serve anyone they wish. If you hope for approval there will be a line for you to wait in to kiss the ring.

Joe Gamm will be given a courtesy office in the 800 Exchange Building and exclusive rights to the news. Forrester will be able to print anything he wants. If it's not true, he can make it true with a few phone calls. The people will be lulled into a false sense of security because the Daily Astorian will tell everyone that everything is OK.

The BOCC will once again enter the dark ages it was in under the Westbrook administration where the public had little say and little time in which to say it. Questions were never addressed and citizen concerns were ignored as per instructions of Blair Henningsgard the then council. You will hear the name Baghwaddi Podar again. A FOG of bitterness, revenge and retaliation will come over the county until the voters return to their senses in future elections.

This recall campaign is unreasonable and unacceptable. The charges against Lee are made by a group who has been out for Lees blood for a long time. Lee has not been charged or even investigated for any crime, though one of two people with the capability in the county did ask the DOJ to investigate and the Sheriff stated that he didn't do it.

There is a black hole at the center of these unreasonable spiral arms of this recall campaign. The spiral arms need to be careful not to be sucked into this black hole because if they ever want to be taken seriously in this county again, distance should be gained, quickly.

I used to enjoy watching a fog bank roll in from the bar. Now I find in its cloying presence a pervasive feeling of encroaching doom.

Nasty stuff full of nasty people.

Oh geez, guys, hasn't the "good old boyz" political crap going on around here gotten to you yet?

Would there even BE an LNG to worry about if we hadn't been sold out by our own elected politicians? Puh-leese.

Elected officials get recalled because they haven't done the job they were elected to do, i.e. listen to and represent their constituents.

Most of this misbegotten bunch on the commission have used dollars for earplugs. If it takes recalling them to keep this area safe from profiteering, so be it.

I hope the recall succeeds. And that it gives the remaining commissioners pause for thought. Which, in itself, would be a unique experience for them.

You are full of scat, anon #3. I am sick and tired of the fog innuendo and gossip. A bunch of old men and women sitting around gossiping without a shred of evidence. Show one piece of evidence that money was used to bribe these commissioners. If you would use your own eyes or your own brain you would read the documents and see that if the commissioners flat out refused the zone change all Bradwood would have to do is go to LUBA and have that overturned. It is such a minor zone change counsel said it would probably occur. LUBA would send it back to the commissioners and ORDER them to work on it with Bradwood. ORDER them to do their jobs! How humiliating. Northern Star picked the perfect spot in regards to land use laws, zone almost identical to what they need, very little legal land use laws needing to be changed. The BOCC hands are tied. The best they can do is make very tough land use conditions on the approval and hold Bradwood accountable to the agreement.

#3 you must have still been living in California when Helen Westbrook ran the BOCC. Her administration was the worst. These commissioners are totally accessible and open. Maybe you are too politically lazy to talk with them and you are just sitting at the feet of Josh and Cindy and believing what they are telling you.

I agree with the above, as do most citizens. Lee has done the job asked of him.
Gossip, gossip, gossip

It's amazing how much opposition to the recall of Mr. Lee can be bought by a hefty investment by his wife.
Although not in his district, I helped with the phone surveys for the recall group and got one of two responses: "Who?" and "What can I do to help?" I did not have a single person who had a favorable impression of the job Mr. Lee was doing.

As to the comments about any vendettas against Ann Samuelson, let's just say that she has done a great job of placing herself in the role of a professional victim. EVERYONE is after her, and she has done NOTHING to deserve it. Too bad that some of those that don't know the truth are buying the bull.

Reeeaally? Interesting, the only polls we heard about were the ones the Daily Astorian and NCO told us about, both pretty slimey push polls, probably commissioned by the Daily Astorian, that CFOG tried blaming on Lee without a shred of evidence. Which telephone survey did you work on and how did you identify yourself when you called people? Did they know you were for CFOG? We do know the truth and we aren't buying your bull.

Its f**king funny, when people stand up for themselves they are "victims" when they remain silent they are being "responsive".

For OPEN Government, until YOU people answer how those fliers got printed out for CRIODA and whether or not Bunch was at anti-LNG demonstrations your arguments hold no weight. You're as secretive as you allege others to be.

whoops, meant "uncooperative".

Isn't it telling. Those for OPEN government shut down when you catch them in one of their lies. This joker comes forward to tell us all that no one he "polled" is for Lee. He also let's it slip that he was on ONE of the surveyS that CFOG did. Admitting right here that the proponents for CFOG were behind the surveyS. Multiple. More than one. When he is asked if this is the case, boom, silence.

When Bunch was confronted about her affiliation with the anti LNG faction, BOOM, silence. When the anti LNG faction were asked if Bunch was affiliated with them, silence.

Yet this same group WHIIIINES to the Daily Astorian that Lee has handpicked pro LNG people to fill planning commission positions and Lee should recuse himself because of his bias!

This group accuses Lee of laundering money, yet refuses to answer a direct question as to who printed out 24,000 pages of fliers for their campaign in the last election.

For OPEN Government? Hypocrites and Liars.

The consequences of prosecutorial mis-conduct are, and should be, severe. More, with an interesting link here.

It's the end of Clatsop County as we know it!

Gimme a break.

If the replacements turn out to be so bad, I'm sure y'all will be able to recall them, paper or no paper.

And don't complain about how you're trying to avoid all that because of the horrible cost of these special elections. Just remember, after it's all done, you'll get to have it your way, just like Burger King, so it'll be worth it.

Because, you know, you're right and they're wrong.

Hey, maybe you can enlist the help of Fox New... I mean, northcoastoregon.com. They're Fair & Balanced (TM).
